Tranwell Aerodrome
We are hoping to be able to construct an airfield for General Aviation on the former RAF Morpeth site, under the name of Tranwell Aerodrome. The following should give you an indication of what we have in mind:
Just remember, that this airfield is NOT active yet! Do not attempt to land here.
The proposed runway runs parallel to and to the south of the existing east/west runway. Sadly, the original runways are not suitable for use, so we are proposing to cut a new grass strip, 800m x 25m into the land available to us. The aim is to operate an unlicensed airfield with fuel availablity and a small cafe.
We have conducted initial site surveys with a view to beginning flight trials later this year. Please have a look at the ‘Initial Survey’ page.
